Richard,
Is there anything you can tell us about the series coming up? Maybe a preview of your opening title sequence?

What I can tell you is that the main title sequence as it is airing in England has been quite controversial with the SciFi Network honchos. Where this is going to lead, I don't know yet. I'm keeping my head down for the moment.

I could post it, but I'd better not - like I said, I'm keeping my head down and my opinions to myself for the moment.

I have been reading reviews on message boards from people who are watching it and they are saying the series is great and is getting better with each episode. I believe the next episode to air is episode 4. But none of them have mentioned anything about the score.

This violates several american copyright laws... ...but I'm in CANADA! It is an amazing theme. As always, it's unlike anything else in the genre. Of course SciFi wants to change it. They want a theme like Stargate SG-1 has. Americans... Go figure. This is the theme here: delta-serpentis.nx2000.net/files/ck1.mp3I could post it, but I'd better not - like I said, I'm keeping my head down and my opinions to myself for the moment.

It's absolutely hauntingly beautiful and sets the tone of desperation and hope perfectly. Please, Richard, tell us it's going to be released and that what we get from the BSG intro is just a tiny snippet! And moreover, if SciFi wants to change it... they're idiots.

Hi there. Just to say Battlestar wouldn't be complete without the fantastic soundtrack accompanying it. The opening theme in particular is absolutely marvellous, as is the incidental music.
Truly an inspired contribution to the best sci fi series in recent times.

Thanks for the kind words and support, guys. I'll also pass on your compliments to Bear. If you really feel strongly about the theme, contact SciFi and tell them! I still don't know what the plan is vis-a-vis the theme - last I heard they wanted to hire me to write a different one, but that hasn't been officially presented to me yet.

Hello! (nice forum theme BTW)
In the Sci-fi trailer 04, just after the windows breakout, a beautiful female vocal comes in. Is this yours too? I got to have this!! Where/how can I buy this?
I listen to John Serrie, Scott fitzgerald, The compilations of 1,2,3 AD, And whats on the FM show called Musical Star streams, to name a few and that with said, YOU, have just become my best new (to me) artist! ;D I will come out and admit, I dont recall Ongio Boingo, nor bought any of that music.
IMO, 3 componets make a great movie. Special effects, The Actors, The soundtrack. "I" am very pleased with what you did for BSG.

Okay here is the update. Apparently Bonnie Hammer (Scifi Network head honcho) has been very unhappy with the approach of the main title music as it is airing in England - too sad, I am told. Honestly I don't disagree totally - my first thought was to write a rousing main title way back when, but I was dissuaded from doing so at the time. At any rate they cut together a new piece of music consisting of a piece of instrumental score from the show going into the existing taiko drum piece. They asked me to "smooth it out" and improve it, but only slightly. I personally don't care for what they have done and have passed - they have basically squeezed the emotion from the opening, in my opinion. Bear is taking a stab at pleasing them now - I'm over it.
