Hey Mr. Gibbs! My name is Greg, I was in Kimo Williams' "Think Tank" class that you spoke at this past spring. I was the guy who managed the recording studio where you gave your Virtual Army presentation... Just wanted to reach out and thank you for that class. I know I'm a few months late on that but that class and our discussion was one of the highlights of my time at Columbia. I finished up school this past June and decided to leave that studio and spend the summer traveling. The studio was just not headed in the right direction.
Anyways I'm writing to ask for some advice. While traveling to the west coast I started working on a screenplay that I truly think has what it takes to garner serious interest. My undergraduate studies where in film so it's more than just some flimsy idea turned into a screenplay. But now I'm faced with daunting task of doing something with it. I've never written something that I have so much confidence in, but I have no idea how to go about pitching it, or getting it into the right hands. I honestly feel kind of lame pulling out the old "hey I wrote the next great screenplay" line but I really do have that feeling. Do I need to move to the West Coast? Should I contact a talent agency for possible representation? I remember that you said that this industry was all connections so I figured I'd reach out. Thanks again for all the wisdom you shared with our class and I hope all is well!
ps: I surfed in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago, and am hating the mid west right now!
